Advocacy Committee: Driving Change for Businesses and Beyond
The Advocacy Committee at the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (FWHCC) was launched in 2024 to address pressing issues impacting businesses and the wider community. Our mission is to champion policies and initiatives that create a thriving business environment, empower local decision-making, and build a strong workforce. Through strategic planning, impactful events, and statewide collaboration, the Advocacy Committee ensures that the voices of business owners are heard and represented at every level of government.
Our Legislative Priorities for the 89th Session
The FWHCC Advocacy Committee developed a robust State Legislative Agenda to guide our efforts during the 89th legislative session. Our key priorities include:
- Business Competitiveness: Advocating for policies that promote job creation, innovation, and capital investment to sustain Texas as a hub for business growth and retention.
- Local Government Decision-Making: Supporting the preservation of local decision-making authority to allow communities to address their unique challenges and effectively manage resources.
- Education and Workforce Development: Promoting initiatives that accelerate workforce training, increase the availability of skilled labor, and retain talent in Texas. This includes backing investments in Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) and Chambers of Commerce to expand advising and training programs.

Making an Impact Through Advocacy and Engagement
In 2024, we hosted a successful voter engagement event at Texas Live, attended by over 70 business owners, local officials, and community leaders. The event emphasized the importance of civic participation and resulted in eight new entrepreneurs registering to vote—an inspiring step toward empowering the Hispanic business community to have a stronger voice in local and state decisions.
Additionally, we are proud to be founding members of the Texas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Coalition, joining forces with 11 other Hispanic chambers across the state. Together, the coalition has achieved key wins in the 88th legislative session and signed an MOU with the Texas Association of Businesses to expand opportunities for businesses statewide.
Why Our Advocacy Efforts Matter
Through our Advocacy Committee, FWHCC remains committed to supporting entrepreneurs by addressing the challenges they face and creating opportunities for growth. Whether it’s developing a pro-business legislative agenda, hosting impactful voter engagement events, or collaborating on a statewide level, our advocacy initiatives are designed to empower the community, foster economic growth, and drive meaningful change.
