Situation:

Running a small business is not easy. Many fail within their first decade. Research shows:

• 50% of small businesses close within their first 5 years, and only one-third make it past 10 years (Small Business and Entrepreneurial Council, 2016).
• In 2013, an estimated 400,687 small business owners in the U.S. had to close their businesses (SBA, 2016).

These numbers show how challenging entrepreneurship can be. The Lanzar Cohort program was created to change this. Our program equips small business owners with the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to succeed long-term.

Resources:

To make the program successful, we use a variety of resources. These include:

• Program Facilitator: Leads the sessions and ensures participants stay on track.
• Program Director: Manages the overall program and keeps everything running smoothly.
• Newsletter: Keeps participants updated with tips, reminders, and important information.
• GroupMe Chat: Offers a way for participants to connect and collaborate outside of class.
• Instructor-Led Curriculum: Based on the trusted FastTrac Kauffman Foundation model to ensure a proven learning structure.
• Printing Services: Provides access to create business plans, financial documents, and other key materials.

Activities:

The program is packed with activities to support participants every step of the way:

1. Weekly Classes:
   • Classes happen every Tuesday for 10 weeks.
   • We offer two cohorts each year: one in Spring (English) and one in Fall (Spanish).
2. Graduation Ceremony:
   • Celebrates participants’ hard work and accomplishments.
3. One-on-One Consultations:
   • Provides personalized coaching to tackle specific challenges.
4. Printing Support:
   • Participants can print business plans, projections, and other important documents.

Outputs:

Participants leave the program with tangible results. These include:

• Business LLC Registrations: Participants gain the confidence to legally register their businesses.
• Completed Business Plans: Entrepreneurs develop actionable plans to guide their operations.
• Pitch Practice: Participants create and refine their business pitch to stand out in their markets.
